Fred Brown, Owner and Photographer

Hi, I’m Fred Brown—photographer, marketer, and proud small-business collaborator.

At Target Market Photography, I help food and hospitality brands in Ottawa and the National Capital Region tell their stories with impactful, custom imagery. I keep things simple, collaborative, and results-driven—because great photos shouldn’t just look good, they should move your business forward.

Whether you're launching a new menu, refreshing your website, or just need one perfect shot before doors open tonight—I work with you to make sure every image speaks your brand’s language.

A Bit About Me

Before photography, I worked in economics, market research, and technical communications—so I naturally bring a strategic mindset to visual branding. I built Target Market Photography around a simple idea: photography should be as useful as it is beautiful. It's visual storytelling with clear purpose.

That means:Before photography, I worked in economics, market research, and technical communications—so I naturally bring a strategic mindset to visual branding. I built Target Market Photography around a simple idea: photography should be as useful as it is beautiful. It's visual storytelling with clear purpose.

That means:

  • We start every project with a brief rooted in your marketing goals;

  • I shoot with your platform, audience, and deadlines in mind;

  • You get polished, on-brand visuals that you can use right away.

I work solo, so when you hire me—you get me. I’m the one answering your call, planning your shoot, adjusting the lighting, and editing the final files. It’s personal, flexible, and built on collaboration.

Who I Work With

I begin the photographic process in the same way as any well-designed communication by looking at your target market. What are their demographics, income, ethnicity and personal preferences? Next, what are the specific characteristics or qualities of your product that appeal to your target market? Here we could be talking about the elegance of a spacious dining room, proximity to urban amenities, convenient working space, old-world service or Italian decor. Upon receiving or viewing your marketing communication what action do you want your customers to take? Working with you I then create a photography brief that states in detail the specifics of each shot. Then we don’t simply take the photos we make them! Final photographs are professionally retouched and optimized for the Internet–while also working well in brochures and other printed marketing materials.
